Indications
Dilatrend (Carvedilol) is indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure. Its use is aimed at reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients, as well as in chronic heart failure. This medication works by blocking beta-adrenergic receptors and also alpha-1 receptors, resulting in a decrease in heart rate and a reduction in peripheral vascular resistance. This eases the heart's work and improves blood circulation, being useful in patients with conditions such as ischemic heart disease and hypertension. It is important that the use of this medication be supervised by a medical professional, who will determine the appropriate dose and duration of treatment according to the patient's individual needs.
Composition
Each Dilatrend tablet contains 25 mg of carvedilol as the active ingredient. The formulation also includes excipients that facilitate its absorption and stability.
Contraindications
Dilatrend is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to carvedilol or any component of the formula. It should not be administered in cases of decompensated heart failure, severe bronchial asthma, second- or third-degree heart block, sick sinus syndrome, or in patients with very low blood pressure. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe liver disease.
Precautions
Caution is advised in patients with a history of liver disease, diabetes mellitus, bradycardia, and in those who are being treated with other antihypertensives. It is important to perform adequate medical follow-up during treatment, as well as periodically evaluate renal and hepatic function.
