Indications
Avastin is indicated for the treatment of various types of cancer. Its use is approved in combination with other treatments for metastatic colorectal cancer, metastatic breast cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, kidney cancer, and glioblastoma multiforme. Bevacizumab works by inhibiting tumor growth by blocking the formation of blood vessels that feed them, which limits the supply of oxygen and nutrients necessary for tumor growth. It is important that the use of Avastin is supervised by a specialist physician and that regular evaluations of the patient's condition are carried out during treatment.
Composition
Each Avastin vial contains 400 mg of bevacizumab, as well as excipients such as sodium chloride, glacial acetic acid, and water for injection, among others.
Contraindications
Avastin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to bevacizumab or any of the excipients of the medicine. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism in the last six months, as well as in those with active or severe bleeding disorders.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of uncontrolled hypertension, coagulation disorders, or those who are receiving anticoagulant treatments. Careful monitoring of patients is recommended to detect the appearance of adverse effects, including hemorrhages and cardiovascular complications.
Storage
Store in refrigeration between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
