Indications

Avapena (Chloropyramine) is indicated for the treatment of symptoms associated with allergic reactions, such as allergic rhinitis, urticaria, allergic conjunctivitis, and other allergic conditions. It is also used in the management of conditions such as pruritus associated with dermatological diseases. In addition, it may be useful in the treatment of common cold symptoms, such as nasal congestion and sneezing. The medication works by blocking the effects of histamine, a compound involved in allergic reactions and the regulation of certain physiological functions. It is important that the use of Avapena be under medical supervision, and evaluation of the underlying cause of allergic symptoms should be considered.

Composition

Each Avapena ampoule contains: Chloropyramine 20 mg in 2 ml of injectable solution.

Contraindications

Avapena is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to chloropyramine or any component of the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with angle-closure glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, or in those who are being treated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs).

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Avapena to patients with heart disease, hypertension, asthma, or liver disease. Alcohol consumption should be avoided during treatment, as it may potentiate the sedative effects of the medication. Likewise, the sedative effect of chloropyramine should be considered, so it is advisable to avoid activities that require full attention, such as driving or operating heavy machinery.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date printed on the packaging.
