Indications
Acc Effervescent V is indicated for the treatment of respiratory diseases characterized by excessive mucus production. It is used in the therapy of conditions such as acute and chronic bronchitis, and in other lung conditions where the elimination of secretions is necessary. It can also be used in the treatment of paracetamol poisoning, acting as an antidote by replenishing glutathione levels in the liver. Acetylcysteine acts as a mucolytic, helping to reduce the viscosity of mucus, thus facilitating its expulsion and improving respiratory function.
Composition
Each effervescent tablet contains 600 mg of acetylcysteine as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients that allow for the effervescent formulation.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to acetylcysteine or any of the excipients. It should not be administered in cases of active peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding. Caution should also be exercised in patients with asthma, as it may induce bronchospasm in some individuals.
Precautions
It is recommended to use Acc Effervescent V with caution in patients with a history of bronchopulmonary diseases or in those with compromised respiratory function. The possibility of interactions with other medications and the need for monitoring in patients with liver or kidney disorders should be considered. Additionally, it is essential to maintain good hydration during treatment to facilitate mucus dissolution.
