Indications
Varamyn, whose active ingredient is vancomycin, is indicated for the treatment of serious infections caused by gram-positive bacteria. It is especially useful in the management of Staphylococcus aureus infections, including those that are methicillin-resistant (MRSA). Its use is recommended in cases of endocarditis, osteomyelitis, pneumonia, and skin and soft tissue infections. Additionally, this medicine is used in the treatment of colitis caused by Clostridium difficile in patients who cannot receive metronidazole therapy.
Composition
Each Varamyn ampoule contains 500 mg of vancomycin in sterile solution.
Contraindications
Varamyn is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to vancomycin or any of the components of the formula. Its use should also be avoided in patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to other antibiotics of the same class.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Varamyn to patients with compromised renal function, as vancomycin can accumulate in the body and increase the risk of toxicity. Frequent monitoring of plasma levels is suggested to avoid adverse effects. Additionally, it is important to assess auditory function, as cases of ototoxicity have been reported in patients treated with high doses or for prolonged periods.

Store at room temperature (between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius), protected from light and humidity. Keep out of reach of children.
