Indications

Timolol 0.50% is indicated for the treatment of open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. This medication works by decreasing intraocular pressure in patients with these conditions, which is essential to prevent optic nerve damage and vision loss. Its use is recommended in combination with other medications for glaucoma treatment when necessary, according to the patient's medical evaluation.

Composition

Each mL of solution contains: Timolol (as timolol maleate) 5 mg. Excipients: sodium chloride, monosodium phosphate, disodium phosphate, purified water.

Contraindications

Timolol is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to timolol or to any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be administered to patients with bronchial asthma, severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bradycardia, or second- or third-degree heart block, as well as those with uncontrolled heart failure.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with heart disease, diabetes mellitus, hyperthyroidism, and in those who are being treated with other antihypertensive medications. Regular monitoring of intraocular pressure and cardiac function is recommended during treatment. Additionally, the use of contact lenses should be considered, as the preservative in the solution may cause irritation in sensitive eyes.

Storage

Store at a temperature between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Keep the bottle tightly closed and in a dry place. Do not use the product after the expiration date indicated on the package. Once opened, it is recommended to use the product within 30 days.
