Indications
Tetracycline hydrochloride is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections sensitive to this antibiotic. It is used for respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, and other infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. It is also used in the treatment of moderate to severe acne vulgaris, as well as some chlamydia infections. It is effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, and its use should be guided by a physician, considering the sensitivity of the pathogen involved.
Composition
Each capsule contains 500 mg of tetracycline hydrochloride as an active ingredient. Excipients: corn starch, gelatin, coloring, among others.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to tetracyclines, as well as in those with severe kidney disease. It should not be administered to pregnant or breastfeeding women due to possible adverse effects on fetal or infant development. It is also contraindicated in children under 8 years of age due to the possibility of affecting dental development.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering this medication to patients with a history of liver or kidney disease. It is important to avoid excessive sun exposure, as tetracycline hydrochloride may increase skin sensitivity to UV radiation. Adequate medical monitoring is recommended during treatment to avoid complications.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature below 25°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
