Indications
Tetracycline Hydrochloride is indicated in the treatment of bacterial infections caused by tetracycline-sensitive microorganisms. It is effective in the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, as well as tick-borne diseases, such as Rocky Mountain spotted fever. It is also used in the treatment of acne vulgaris and in some infections caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Chlamydia trachomatis. This antibiotic works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, which results in stopping the growth of susceptible bacteria.
Composition
Each capsule contains 250 mg of Tetracycline Hydrochloride as the active ingredient. Excipients: starch, gelatin, titanium dioxide, among others.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to tetracycline or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be administered to pregnant or breastfeeding women, as it may affect the fetus or infant. It is also contraindicated in children under 8 years of age due to the risk of permanent tooth discoloration.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with hepatic or renal disorders. Prolonged use may result in superinfections by fungi or resistant bacteria. It is important to avoid prolonged sun exposure, as tetracycline can cause photosensitivity.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
