Indications

Telmisartan is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension in adults. This medication works by blocking angiotensin II receptors, which causes blood vessel dilation, resulting in a decrease in blood pressure. Additionally, it can be used in the prevention of cardiovascular events in high-risk patients, as well as in the treatment of heart failure.

Composition

Each Telmisartan 80 mg tablet contains:

  • Telmisartan: 80 mg
  • Excipients: Lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, and other excipients.

Contraindications

Telmisartan is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to telmisartan or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be used in patients with severe hepatic impairment, in those with a history of angioedema related to previous treatments with angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, and in pregnant and lactating patients.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Telmisartan to patients with renal artery stenosis, renal failure, or those with conditions that may compromise hydration status. It is advisable to monitor renal function and electrolytes during treatment, especially in patients who are taking diuretics or who are at high risk of dehydration.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
