Indications

Telmisartan 40 mg is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults. This medication works by blocking angiotensin II receptors, resulting in blood vessel dilation and reduced blood pressure. Additionally, it can be used in the management of heart failure and for the reduction of cardiovascular event risk in patients with hypertension and other risk factors.

Composition

Each tablet contains Telmisartan 40 mg as an active ingredient, as well as excipients that allow for the formulation of the medication.

Contraindications

Telmisartan is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to telmisartan or any of its components. It should not be administered during pregnancy and lactation, nor in patients with bilateral renal artery stenosis or in a single functional kidney. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of angioedema associated with previous treatment with angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.

Precautions

Precautions should be taken when administering Telmisartan to patients with a history of liver or kidney diseases, as well as in those who present dehydration or hypovolemia. It is important to monitor renal function and electrolytes in patients receiving this medication, especially those who are also being treated with diuretics. Likewise, it is recommended to regularly assess blood pressure.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, protected from direct light and out of the reach of children. Keep the medication in its original packaging and do not use after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
