Indications

Telmisartan is indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure in adults. Its administration may contribute to the reduction of cardiovascular events in patients with hypertension and associated risk factors. This drug works by blocking the effects of angiotensin II, which causes blood vessel dilation and a decrease in blood pressure. Additionally, it can be used in combination with other antihypertensives for optimal blood pressure control.

Composition

Each tablet contains: Telmisartan 40 mg, excipients: lactose monohydrate, starch, magnesium stearate, and other excipients necessary for the formulation.

Contraindications

Telmisartan is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to telmisartan or any of the excipients in the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of angioedema related to previous treatments with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs). Its use is contraindicated during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, as well as in patients with severe hepatic impairment and in those with bilateral renal artery stenosis or in a single kidney.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of renal failure, ischemic heart disease, or in those undergoing treatment with diuretics. It is important to monitor renal function and blood potassium levels during treatment. Its use is not recommended in patients who are taking medications containing lithium, as it may increase lithium toxicity.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
