Indications

Sulfasalazine is indicated for the treatment of various inflammatory conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis and ulcerative colitis. This medication acts as an anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory agent, helping to reduce inflammation and the symptoms associated with these diseases. In addition, it can be used in the management of Crohn's disease and other conditions related to intestinal inflammation. It is important to follow the instructions of the treating physician, who will determine the dose and duration of treatment according to the patient's response.

Composition

Each tablet contains 500 mg of Sulfasalazine as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients necessary for the formulation of the medication, which are inert and do not affect its efficacy.

Contraindications

Sulfasalazine is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to sulfasalazine, sulfonamides, or salicylates. It should not be administered in cases of intestinal obstruction, porphyria, or severe renal insufficiency. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease.

Precautions

It is recommended to perform periodic liver function tests and blood counts during treatment with Sulfasalazine. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before starting treatment.
