Indications
Sinfonil is indicated for the treatment of epilepsy, including simple and complex partial seizures, and for the prevention of generalized tonic-clonic seizures. This medication acts as a mood stabilizer and is used as adjunctive therapy in adult and pediatric patients over 2 years of age with refractory epilepsy. Oxcarbazepine, its active ingredient, has been shown to be effective in reducing seizure frequency in patients who do not respond adequately to other antiepileptic drugs.
Composition
Each Sinfonil tablet contains 300 mg of oxcarbazepine as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients such as microcrystalline cellulose, starch, and magnesium stearate.
Contraindications
Sinfonil is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to oxcarbazepine or to any of the excipients in the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of allergic reaction to carbamazepine, due to the possibility of cross-reactions.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when using Sinfonil in patients with a history of kidney disease, as the elimination of oxcarbazepine may be altered. Additionally, patients should be monitored for the possible appearance of adverse effects, such as electrolyte imbalance and skin reactions. Simultaneous administration with other antiepileptic medications should be monitored to avoid interactions.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
