Indications

Sevelamer is indicated as a phosphate-reducing agent in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis. It is used to control blood phosphorus levels, helping to prevent complications associated with hyperphosphatemia. Additionally, it can be used as a dietary supplement in patients requiring phosphorus restriction. The medication works by trapping phosphorus in the intestine and preventing its absorption, which helps maintain a proper mineral balance in the body.

Composition

Each ultra tablet contains 800 mg of Sevelamer, as well as excipients that facilitate the formulation of the medication.

Contraindications

Sevelamer is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to sevelamer or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered in cases of intestinal obstruction, or in patients with severe gastrointestinal problems.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disorders, as well as in those who are being treated with other medications that may interact with sevelamer. Regular monitoring of blood phosphorus and calcium levels is recommended during treatment. It is also important to consider the possible reduction in the absorption of other medications taken simultaneously.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
