Indications
Rosuvastatin is indicated for the treatment of primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. Its use is recommended in patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia and as additional therapy in combination with an adequate diet to reduce LDL cholesterol, total cholesterol, and apolipoprotein B levels. Furthermore, it is useful for reducing the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with established cardiovascular disease or in those at high risk of developing cardiovascular disease who have not achieved adequate lipid control after non-pharmacological measures. This medication is also used for the treatment of hypertriglyceridemia in adults.
Composition
Each tablet contains: Rosuvastatin (as rosuvastatin calcium) 10 mg, excipients: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, and other excipients as per formulation.
Contraindications
Rosuvastatin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to rosuvastatin or any component of the formula. It should not be administered to patients with active liver disease or with persistent elevations of transaminases. It is contraindicated in pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Precautions
Caution is advised in patients with a history of liver disease, excessive alcohol consumption, and in those using other medications that may affect the metabolism of rosuvastatin. It is important to monitor liver function and CPK levels in patients who experience unusual muscle symptoms.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
