Indications
Rosuvastatin is indicated for the treatment of dyslipidemia, specifically for the reduction of elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol (low-density lipoproteins), and triglycerides in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It is also used to reduce cardiovascular mortality in patients with established coronary heart disease and to prevent cardiovascular events in individuals with risk factors. It is recommended as a complement to an appropriate diet and physical exercise to obtain optimal results in managing blood lipids.
Composition
Each Rosuvastatin 10 mg tablet contains:
- Rosuvastatin (as rosuvastatin calcium) 10 mg
- Excipients: Lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to rosuvastatin or any of its excipients. It should not be administered to patients with active liver disease, persistent elevations of transaminases, severe renal failure, or to pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Precautions
It should be used with caution in patients with a history of liver disease, excessive alcohol consumption, untreated hypothyroidism, and in those receiving concomitant treatment with other medications that may increase the risk of myositis or rhabdomyolysis. It is advisable to perform liver function tests before starting treatment and during follow-up.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
