Indications

Risperidone is used in the treatment of psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and behavioral disorders in children and adolescents. It is effective in managing positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia, as well as in reducing manic episodes in patients with bipolar disorder. It is also prescribed for the treatment of irritability associated with autism in children and adolescents. This medication acts on serotonin and dopamine receptors in the brain, which contributes to improving mood and perception.

Composition

Each Risperidone 2 mg tablet contains risperidone as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients such as lactose, starch, and other components that facilitate the formulation of the medication.

Contraindications

Risperidone is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to risperidone or any of the product's excipients. It should not be administered to individuals with a history of severe allergic reactions. Furthermore, its use in patients with Parkinson's disease or Lewy body dementia should be carefully evaluated due to the risk of adverse effects.

Precautions

Constant medical monitoring is important, especially in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, liver, or kidney problems. Caution should also be exercised in elderly patients, as they may be more susceptible to side effects. Abrupt discontinuation of treatment should be avoided, and the physician's instructions regarding dosage and treatment duration should be followed.

Store in a cool, dry place, protected from direct light and out of the reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
