Indications
Quetiapine is indicated for the treatment of psychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depressive episodes associated with bipolar disorder. This medication acts as an antipsychotic, helping to control symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, and thought disorganization. Additionally, it is used in the management of mood disorders, contributing to stabilizing the patient's emotional state. Quetiapine can be used as part of a broader therapeutic regimen, including other psychological and social interventions.
Composition
Each quetiapine tablet contains 100 mg of quetiapine in its base form. Additionally, it contains excipients that facilitate the formulation and absorption of the active ingredient.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to quetiapine or to any of the excipients present in the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with a history of severe adverse reactions to other antipsychotics. Likewise, caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular diseases or a history of seizures.
Precautions
It is important to maintain continuous medical monitoring during treatment with quetiapine, especially in patients with risk factors for developing adverse effects. Liver and kidney function should be assessed before and during treatment. Furthermore, special care should be taken when discontinuing treatment, as withdrawal symptoms may occur. It is suggested to avoid alcohol consumption and other medications that act on the central nervous system during treatment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
