Indications

Quetiapine is indicated for the treatment of psychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depressive episodes associated with bipolar disorder. This medication acts on certain neurotransmitters in the brain, helping to improve patients' mood, perception, and behavior. Its use is recommended under strict medical supervision, and its dosage should be adjusted according to the patient's specific needs and response to treatment. It is essential to follow the treating physician's instructions to optimize the benefits of the medication and minimize the risks of adverse effects.

Composition

Each Quetiapine tablet contains 100 mg of quetiapine, as well as excipients such as lactose, starch, and magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to quetiapine or any of the excipients. Its use should also be avoided in patients receiving treatment with potent CYP3A4 inhibitors, as this could increase the risk of adverse effects. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of cerebrovascular events or significant cardiovascular disease without adequate medical evaluation.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Quetiapine to patients with a history of seizures, liver disease, cardiovascular diseases, or those taking other medications that may affect the central nervous system. Regular monitoring of blood pressure and body weight is recommended during treatment. Furthermore, it is essential to inform the doctor about any adverse effects experienced during the use of the medication.
