Indications

Protan Syrup is indicated for the temporary relief of dry, non-productive cough associated with upper respiratory tract irritations, such as those occurring due to common colds, allergies, or minor infections. Dextromethorphan acts on the cough center in the brain, suppressing the cough reflex. This medication is suitable for adults and children over 12 years of age who have a non-productive cough. It is important not to use Protan Syrup in cases where expectoration of mucus or phlegm is required.

Composition

Each 5 ml of Protan Syrup contains:

  • Dextromethorphan HBr: 15 mg.

Contraindications

Protan Syrup is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to dextromethorphan or any other component of the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients who are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or have taken them within the last two weeks. Its use is not recommended in patients with productive cough, asthma, or those with chronic lung diseases.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Protan Syrup to patients with respiratory problems, as it may aggravate their condition. Medical supervision is recommended in cases of liver or kidney diseases. The recommended dose should not be exceeded, and concurrent use with other medications that may cause drowsiness or central nervous system depression should be avoided.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.

Otherwise, a fee of $170.00 MXN (One hundred seventy Mexican pesos) will be added for a standard package with dimensions up to 20cm x 20cm x 20cm and 1kg in weight, and $290.00 MXN (Two hundred ninety Mexican pesos) for packages exceeding the aforementioned dimensions or weight.
