Indications

Profelam (Tacrolimus) is indicated for the prevention of organ rejection in patients who have received kidney, liver, or heart transplants. It is also used in the treatment of autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. This medication works by suppressing the body's immune response, which helps prevent the immune system of the recipient from rejecting the graft. Additionally, it can be used in treatments for severe atopic dermatitis in patients who do not respond to other conventional therapies.

Composition

Each Profelam tablet contains 1 mg of tacrolimus as the active ingredient. Excipients include: lactose, corn starch, magnesium stearate, and others.

Contraindications

Profelam is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to tacrolimus or any component of the formula. It should not be used in patients with active, uncontrolled infections, as it may worsen the patient's condition. Its use in pregnant and breastfeeding women should be carefully evaluated by a doctor.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of kidney or liver disease, as well as in those with hypertension. It is essential to monitor renal function and tacrolimus blood levels to avoid toxicity. Patients should be informed about the risk of infections, given that the medication can alter the body's immune response.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
