Indications
Pregabalin is indicated for the treatment of painful diabetic neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia, and generalized anxiety disorder. It is also used as adjunctive therapy in the treatment of partial seizures in patients with epilepsy. Pregabalin acts by binding to the alpha2-delta subunits of voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system, which reduces the release of excitatory neurotransmitters, thereby contributing to its analgesic and anxiolytic effect.
Composition
Each capsule contains 75 mg of pregabalin as active ingredient, as well as excipients necessary for the formulation.
Contraindications
Pregabalin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pregabalin or to any of the excipients of the formulation. It should also be avoided in patients with severe renal insufficiency without appropriate dose adjustment.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering pregabalin to patients with a history of substance abuse, as it may lead to dependence. Furthermore, it is recommended to monitor patients for the possibility of suicidal thoughts and changes in behavior. In case of symptoms such as dizziness, drowsiness, or confusion, driving or operating heavy machinery should be avoided.
Storage
Store the product in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
