Indications
Pregabalin is indicated for the treatment of various neurological conditions. Its primary use includes the management of neuropathic pain associated with spinal cord injuries and diabetic neuropathies. It is also used in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorders and as adjunctive therapy for the management of partial seizures in patients with epilepsy. It is important that this medication be used under medical supervision, as its effectiveness and safety depend on an adequate clinical evaluation and patient monitoring.
Composition
Each Pregabalin 75 mg capsule contains:
- Pregabalin: 75 mg
- Excipients: q.s.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pregabalin or to any of the excipients in the formulation. Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of substance abuse, as well as in those with severe renal insufficiency, where dose adjustment is recommended. Its use during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended, unless the benefits outweigh the potential risks.
Precautions
Special precautions should be taken in patients with a history of depression, mood disorders, or suicidal thoughts. It is advisable to monitor for adverse symptoms, especially at the beginning of treatment or when making dose adjustments. Abrupt discontinuation of treatment can lead to discontinuation symptoms, so a gradual reduction regimen is suggested.
