Indications
Pregabalin is indicated for the treatment of neuropathic pain associated with nerve damage, as well as for the management of epilepsy in adult patients as adjunctive therapy. It is also used in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder. Its analgesic effect is due to its ability to bind to certain calcium channel subunits, which modulates the release of neurotransmitters in the central nervous system.
Composition
Each Pregabalin capsule contains 150 mg of pregabalin, as well as excipients necessary for the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pregabalin or to any of the excipients in the formulation. Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of substance abuse or in those with severe renal insufficiency.
Precautions
Monitoring for the appearance of signs of depression or suicidal thoughts is recommended in patients initiating treatment with pregabalin. Furthermore, caution should be exercised in patients with a history of heart problems, as they may experience adverse effects related to cardiovascular function. Abrupt discontinuation of treatment should be avoided to prevent the risk of adverse effects.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C, in a dry place and away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
