Indications
Pentoxifylline is indicated in the treatment of intermittent claudication caused by peripheral vascular diseases. It is also used in the management of disorders related to microcirculation, such as chronic venous insufficiency and diabetic retinopathy. Pentoxifylline works by improving blood fluidity and reducing viscosity, which allows for better blood flow in affected areas. It can also be useful in cases of sudden deafness and as an adjuvant treatment for chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD).
Composition
Each Pentoxifylline Lp Amsa tablet contains 400 mg of pentoxifylline as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients such as corn starch, lactose, magnesium stearate, and other inert components.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pentoxifylline or any of the formula's components. It should not be used in patients with internal bleeding, severe renal insufficiency, or those with a history of gastrointestinal bleeding. Its use during pregnancy and lactation must be evaluated by a physician.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering pentoxifylline to patients with a history of peptic ulcers, hepatic or renal dysfunction, as well as those receiving anticoagulants. It is important to monitor liver and kidney function during treatment. Adverse effects may include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and headaches.
