Indications
Pentoxifylline is indicated for the treatment of intermittent claudication due to peripheral arterial disease. It is used to improve blood circulation in patients with vascular disorders, and may be beneficial in cases of venous ulcers and diabetes mellitus, where improved tissue perfusion is required. Additionally, it has been used in autoimmune diseases and to improve blood flow in ischemic conditions. It is important to follow medical instructions to determine the appropriate dosage and duration of treatment.
Composition
Each tablet contains 400 mg of Pentoxifylline as active ingredient. Inactive ingredients: starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among other excipients.
Contraindications
Pentoxifylline is not recommended for use in patients with known hypersensitivity to pentoxifylline or any of the components of the formulation. It is contraindicated in patients with active hemorrhage or those with a history of severe hemorrhage. Furthermore, it should not be used in patients with severe hepatic or renal insufficiency.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of peptic ulcer, as it may increase the risk of hemorrhage. Likewise, monitoring is recommended in patients with heart disease or arrhythmias, as well as in those undergoing treatment with anticoagulants. It is essential for the physician to evaluate the risks and benefits before initiating treatment.
