Indications
Penipot is an antibiotic indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to benzylpenicillin. It is used in the management of respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, as well as in the treatment of syphilis. It can also be used in combination with other antibiotics for the treatment of infective endocarditis and other serious infections.
In the pediatric setting, it can be used for the treatment of streptococcal pharyngitis, bacterial pneumonia, and acute otitis media, always under medical supervision. Its use must be based on the pathogen's sensitivity and the patient's clinical evaluation.
Composition
Each 1 ml of Penipot contains:
- Procaine Benzylpenicillin: 600,000 Units
- Crystalline Benzylpenicillin: 200,000 Units
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillins or to any of the components of the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with asthma or severe allergic reactions to other antibiotics of the penicillin group.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of allergic diseases, asthma, or kidney diseases. Prolonged use of Penipot can lead to superinfections or alterations in the intestinal flora. Renal function tests are recommended for patients who will receive prolonged treatments.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
