Indications

Paroxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) indicated for the treatment of various psychiatric disorders, including:

  • Major depressive disorder.
  • Generalized anxiety disorder.
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
  • Panic disorder.

The action of Paroxetine consists of increasing the concentration of serotonin in the central nervous system, which contributes to improving mood and reducing anxiety in affected patients.

Composition

Each Paroxetine tablet contains 20 mg of paroxetine, as well as excipients that facilitate the formulation of the product.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in the following cases:

  • Hypersensitivity to paroxetine or any of the components of the formula.
  • Concomitant use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs).
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless strictly necessary and under medical supervision.

Precautions

Precautions should be taken in the following cases:

  • Patients with a history of seizures.
  • Patients with a history of bipolar disorders.
  • Patients who present symptoms of serotonin syndrome.

It is essential to evaluate the risk-benefit ratio before starting treatment with Paroxetine.
