Indications
Paroxetine is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorders, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and social anxiety disorders. Its mechanism of action is based on the selective inhibition of serotonin reuptake in the central nervous system, which contributes to mood improvement and reduction of anxiety symptoms. The use of Paroxetine is indicated for adults, and it is suggested that treatment should be supervised by a healthcare professional to adjust the dosage according to the patient's clinical response.
Composition
Each tablet contains: Paroxetine 20 mg, excipients: starch, lactose, talc, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Paroxetine is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to paroxetine or any of the excipients of the medication. It should not be administered in combination with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or in patients with a history of serotonin syndrome. Its use during pregnancy and lactation should be carefully evaluated by a physician.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Paroxetine to patients with a history of bipolar disorder, glaucoma, hepatic or renal dysfunction, as well as those on concomitant treatment with other medications that affect the central nervous system. It is important to monitor for adverse effects and adjust the dosage as needed.
