Indications
Oxfon is indicated for the treatment of malignant hypercalcemia, which is a severe condition that occurs in certain types of cancer. It is also used in the treatment of metastatic osteopathy, as well as in the prevention of bone complications in patients with advanced solid tumors. Its action is based on the inhibition of bone resorption, which helps reduce the risk of fractures and other skeletal problems associated with metastatic disease. Furthermore, it has been used in the treatment of osteoporosis in patients at high risk of fractures.
Composition
Each Oxfon ampule contains 4 mg of zoledronic acid, as well as excipients necessary for its formulation and stability.
Contraindications
Oxfon should not be administered to patients with known hypersensitivity to zoledronic acid or to any other component of the formula. It is contraindicated in cases of severe renal insufficiency (glomerular filtration rate less than 30 ml/min) and in patients with severe dehydration.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of renal disorders, as well as in those with hypocalcemia. It is important to monitor renal function before and after drug administration. Likewise, it is recommended to evaluate patients for signs of osteonecrosis of the jaw, especially in those who have received dental treatments or have a history of dental diseases.
Storage
Oxfon should be stored in a cool, dry place, at temperatures not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiration date indicated on the packaging.
