Indications

Oxcarbazepine is indicated for the treatment of partial and generalized seizures in patients with epilepsy. It is used as adjunctive therapy in patients who are not adequately controlled with other antiepileptics and can also be used as monotherapy in adults and children over 4 years of age. Additionally, it has been indicated in some cases of mood disorders, although its use for this indication is not fully established.

Composition

Each tablet contains 300 mg of oxcarbazepine as the active ingredient. Excipients: corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

Oxcarbazepine is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to oxcarbazepine, carbamazepine, or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered during pregnancy and lactation, unless the benefits outweigh the potential risks, and always under strict medical supervision.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of hematological disorders, liver or kidney conditions. Monitoring in patients with a history of depression or suicidal thoughts is essential. It is also important to monitor for the appearance of adverse reactions during treatment, especially in the first months of use.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
