Indications
Ovisen (fluoxetine) is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, panic disorders, and eating disorders such as bulimia nervosa. This medication works by increasing serotonin levels in the brain, which helps improve mood and reduce anxiety. Fluoxetine is also used in some cases for the treatment of premenstrual disorders, as it can help alleviate the emotional and physical symptoms associated with this disorder.
Composition
Each tablet contains: Fluoxetine 20 mg.
Contraindications
Ovisen is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to fluoxetine or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be used in combination with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or in patients with a history of serotonin syndrome. Its use is not recommended in children and adolescents under 18 years of age without proper supervision.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Ovisen to patients with a history of bipolar disorder, seizures, liver or kidney disease, and those taking other medications that may increase the risk of adverse effects. Patients should be monitored for signs of suicide, especially at the beginning of treatment or when adjusting the dose.
Storage
Store the medication in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children and avoid exposure to direct light.
