Indications
Otrozol (Metronidazole) is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to this antibiotic. It is effective in the treatment of:
- Bacterial infections of the gastrointestinal tract, including amebiasis and giardiasis.
- Skin and soft tissue infections caused by anaerobes.
- Gynecological infections such as bacterial vaginosis and pelvic inflammatory disease.
- Dental infections, especially those associated with periodontitis.
- Prophylaxis in surgery and medical procedures that may expose the patient to anaerobic infections.
Composition
Each ampoule of Otrozol contains:
- Metronidazole: 500 mg
- Excipients: sufficient quantity for 100 ml
Contraindications
Otrozol is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to metronidazole or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should also be avoided in patients with pre-existing neurological diseases.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Otrozol to patients with a history of liver or kidney disease. Close monitoring is recommended for patients who develop neurological symptoms during treatment. Prolonged use may result in superinfection by microorganisms not susceptible to metronidazole.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Protect from light and keep out of reach of children.
