Indications
Oseltamivir is indicated for the treatment of influenza (flu) in adults and children aged one year and older, as well as for the prevention of influenza virus infection in patients who have been exposed to the disease. Its use is most effective when initiated within 48 hours of symptom onset. The medication can help reduce the duration of the illness and decrease complications associated with the flu. It has also been used in influenza outbreak situations to prevent infection in high-risk individuals.
Composition
Each Oseltamivir capsule contains 75 mg of oseltamivir phosphate, as well as excipients such as microcrystalline cellulose, starch, and other inactive components used in the capsule formulation.
Contraindications
Oseltamivir is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to oseltamivir phosphate or any of the excipients in the formulation. Caution should also be exercised in patients with renal impairment, as dose adjustment may be necessary in these cases.
Precautions
It is recommended to monitor patients who experience symptoms of adverse effects or allergic reactions. In patients with a history of psychiatric illnesses, special care should be taken, as behavioral changes have been reported in some cases. The use of Oseltamivir in combination with other antiviral treatments is not recommended without the supervision of a healthcare professional.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at temperatures not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
