Indications
Omeprazole is indicated for the treatment of diseases related to gastric hypersecretion. It is used in the therapy of gastric and duodenal ulcers, as well as in the eradication of Helicobacter pylori in combination with antibacterials. It is also prescribed for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), alleviating associated symptoms such as heartburn and regurgitation. This medication is effective in preventing the recurrence of peptic ulcers and in reducing gastric acid production, thereby contributing to the healing of the gastric and duodenal mucosa.
Composition
Each capsule contains 20 mg of Omeprazole as an active ingredient. Excipients include: microcrystalline cellulose, talc, and other excipients.
Contraindications
Omeprazole is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to omeprazole or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should also be avoided in those with a history of severe allergic reactions, as well as in patients with severe hepatic insufficiency.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver or kidney disease. Prolonged use of omeprazole may be associated with an increased risk of bone fractures, as well as vitamin B12 deficiencies. Medical follow-up is recommended in cases of long-term treatment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
