Indications

Olanzapine is indicated for the treatment of psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. It is used for the prevention of manic episodes in patients with bipolar disorder, as well as for the treatment of acute manic episodes. It may also be indicated as part of a treatment regimen for the management of resistant depression in combination with other antidepressants. Olanzapine acts on various neurotransmitters in the brain, helping to stabilize mood and reduce psychotic symptoms.

Composition

Each Olanzapine tablet contains 10 mg of olanzapine as the active ingredient. Excipients: lactose, starch, microcrystalline cellulose, among others.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to olanzapine or any of the product's excipients. It should not be administered in combination with potent CYP1A2 inhibitors, such as fluvoxamine, due to the possibility of increasing olanzapine plasma concentration.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus, or in those with an increased risk of developing metabolic syndrome. Regular monitoring of weight, glucose, and blood lipids is important during treatment. Olanzapine can cause sedation, so it is recommended to avoid operating heavy machinery or driving vehicles until the patient's response to the medication is known.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
