Indications
Olanzapine is indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults and adolescents aged 13 and older. It is also used in the treatment of bipolar disorder, in manic episodes or as maintenance treatment in patients with bipolar disorder. Olanzapine is an atypical antipsychotic that acts on various neurotransmitters in the brain, contributing to the improvement of psychotic and affective symptoms.
Composition
Each Olanzapine 10 mg tablet contains 10 mg of olanzapine as the active ingredient. Excipients include: lactose monohydrate, starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, and other inert components that facilitate the formulation of the medicine.
Contraindications
Olanzapine is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to olanzapine or any of the excipients. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of severe adverse reactions to other antipsychotics. Furthermore, its use in combination with other medications that prolong the QT interval should be carefully evaluated.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering olanzapine to patients with a history of cardiovascular diseases, liver disorders, or those with a history of seizures. It is important to monitor weight and metabolic parameters during treatment, as olanzapine can cause weight gain and metabolic alterations. Regular follow-up of patients undergoing treatment with this medication is recommended.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
