Indications

Norquinol is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. It is effective in urinary tract infections, including cystitis and pyelonephritis, as well as gastrointestinal infections, such as traveler's diarrhea. It is also used in the treatment of respiratory infections and some skin and soft tissue infections. It is important to perform a culture and antibiogram to ensure the susceptibility of the microorganisms before starting treatment with Norquinol.

Composition

Each Norquinol tablet contains 400 mg of Norfloxacin as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients that facilitate its formulation and stability.

Contraindications

Norquinol is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to norfloxacin or other fluoroquinolone antibiotics. Its use should also be avoided in patients with a history of tendinitis or tendon rupture related to fluoroquinolone use, as well as in pregnant or breastfeeding women, and in children under 18 years of age due to the potential risk of adverse effects on joint development.

Precautions

Caution is recommended when prescribing Norquinol in patients with a history of seizures, brain damage, or those with central nervous system diseases. Likewise, its use should be monitored in patients with renal insufficiency, as dose adjustment may be required. It is essential to avoid excessive exposure to sunlight during treatment, due to the risk of photosensitivity.
