Indications
Miconazole Cream 2% is indicated for the treatment of skin infections caused by fungi and yeasts, including but not limited to: dermatophytosis, cutaneous candidiasis, and tinea. This medication works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of the fungal cell membrane, which leads to the death of the fungus. It is useful in the treatment of superficial skin infections, as well as in cases of athlete's foot, jock itch, and cutaneous candidiasis. In addition, it can be used as part of a therapeutic approach in mixed infections where fungi are the predominant pathogen.
Composition
Each 100 g of cream contains: Miconazole nitrate 2 g. Excipients: purified water, propylene glycol, cetyl alcohol, glyceryl stearate, among others.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to miconazole or any of the components of the formulation. Its use is not recommended on extensive skin areas or open wounds without the supervision of a healthcare professional.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of allergic reactions to antifungals. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. If irritation or a skin rash occurs, treatment should be discontinued and a doctor consulted. Its use is not recommended in children under 2 years of age without medical supervision.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
