Indications
Mezelol (Metoprolol) is indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure, as well as for the prevention of cardiovascular events in patients with a history of myocardial infarction. It is also used in the management of angina pectoris and in the treatment of congestive heart failure. This medication acts as a selective beta-blocker, which helps to reduce heart rate and blood pressure, improving exercise capacity and quality of life for patients. It is important that its use is supervised by a doctor, who will evaluate the patient's response to treatment and adjust the dose as needed.
Composition
Each Mezelol tablet contains 50 mg of Metoprolol as the active ingredient, as well as excipients necessary for the product's formulation.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to metoprolol or any component of the formulation. It should not be used in patients with severe bradycardia, second or third-degree atrioventricular block, decompensated heart failure, and cardiogenic shock. Additionally, caution should be exercised in patients with bronchial asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Precautions
Caution is recommended when using Mezelol in patients with renal or hepatic impairment, diabetes mellitus, and in those receiving treatment with other antihypertensive drugs. It is important to monitor blood pressure and heart rate during treatment. This medication should not be discontinued abruptly, as it may lead to a worsening of angina or an increase in blood pressure.
Storage
Store Mezelol in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C, and keep the product out of the reach of children. Avoid exposure to direct light and humidity.
