Indications

Metronidazole 500 mg is indicated for the treatment of various infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. It is mainly used in the management of bacterial and protozoal infections, including:

  • Gastrointestinal tract infections, such as amebiasis and giardiasis.
  • Female reproductive system infections, such as bacterial vaginosis and trichomoniasis.
  • Skin and soft tissue infections, such as abscesses and cellulitis.
  • Dental and periodontal infections.
  • Prophylaxis in surgical and dental procedures to prevent infections.

Composition

Each Metronidazole 500 mg tablet contains:

  • Metronidazole: 500 mg
  • Excipients: Lactose, starch, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to metronidazole or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be administered to pregnant women in the first trimester or to patients with severe neurological disorders.

Precautions

Caution is advised in patients with liver disease, as dose adjustment may be necessary. Its use should also be considered in patients with a history of neurological disease and in those who consume alcohol, due to the possibility of adverse reactions.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, away from direct light and out of reach of children.

  1. Free home delivery by local branches on orders over $1000. Otherwise, a $50 fee will be added in the cities of Querétaro and La Paz, BCS, and $150 in San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, BCS.
  2. FREE national shipping via ground on orders over $1,500.00. Otherwise, a fee of $170.00 MXN (One hundred seventy Mexican pesos) will be added for a standard package with dimensions up to 20cm x 20cm x 20cm and 1kg in weight, and $290.00 MXN (Two hundred ninety Mexican pesos) for packages exceeding the aforementioned dimensions or weight.
  3. In case of oversized items, the corresponding fee will apply according to the parcel service.
