Indications
Metoclopramide is indicated for the treatment of nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery. It is also used in the treatment of gastric disorders such as diabetic gastroparesis and in the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting. Additionally, metoclopramide can be effective in the management of migraines and as an adjunct in the treatment of esophageal diseases, improving gastric emptying and intestinal motility.
Composition
Each Metoclopramide ampoule contains: Metoclopramide 10 mg, excipients: water for injection, sodium chloride, hydrochloric acid and/or sodium hydroxide (for pH adjustment).
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to metoclopramide or any of the excipients. It should not be administered in cases of intestinal obstruction, intestinal perforation, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, or in patients with pheochromocytoma. It is contraindicated in children under 1 year of age and during pregnancy, except in strictly necessary cases.
Precautions
It is important to use metoclopramide with caution in patients with a history of epilepsy, heart disease, or central nervous system disorders. Patients should be monitored for adverse reactions, especially during prolonged treatment, as extrapyramidal effects may occur. Administration in the elderly should be careful due to possible decreased renal function and increased risk of side effects.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light. Do not store at temperatures above 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
