Indications
Metformin 850 mg is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. It is especially useful in overweight and obese patients, as it helps to improve glycemic control in combination with an adequate diet and exercise. This molecule primarily acts by decreasing hepatic glucose production and improving insulin sensitivity. It can also be used as adjuvant therapy in patients requiring insulin to control their blood glucose. Furthermore, metformin has been shown to have a favorable effect on the lipid profile, contributing to the reduction of LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
Composition
Each Metformin 850 mg tablet contains: Metformin (as hydrochloride) 850 mg, excipients: starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to metformin or any of its components, severe renal insufficiency, hepatic insufficiency, diabetic ketoacidosis, and conditions that may lead to dehydration. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of unstable cardiovascular disease.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with moderate renal insufficiency, chronic heart or respiratory disease. It is important to monitor renal function before and during treatment with metformin. During surgical or radiological procedures requiring the use of iodinated contrast, it is necessary to temporarily suspend the use of metformin to prevent lactic acidosis.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children.
