Indications
Memantine is indicated for the treatment of patients with moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease. It acts as an NMDA receptor antagonist, helping to regulate the activity of glutamate, a neurotransmitter involved in learning and memory. Its use may contribute to the improvement of cognitive functions and the reduction of behavioral symptoms associated with Alzheimer's disease.
Composition
Each tablet contains 10 mg of Memantine as Memantine hydrochloride. Excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, starch, magnesium stearate, and other inactive excipients.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Memantine or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with a history of uncontrolled seizures or to those with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance less than 30 ml/min).
Precautions
Caution is advised in patients with a history of seizures, renal impairment, or those who are concomitantly treated with other medications affecting the central nervous system. Monitor renal function and adjust the dose in case of alterations. Use in patients under 18 years of age is not recommended due to a lack of studies in this population.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
