Indications
Mecav is a cytoprotective agent indicated for the prevention of hemorrhagic cystitis induced by the use of certain chemotherapeutic agents, especially those containing ifosfamide. This medication works by protecting the bladder mucosa, reducing the risk of damage from toxic metabolites. Additionally, Mecav can be used as part of a treatment regimen to improve tolerance to chemotherapy in patients receiving intensive treatments.
Composition
Each ampoule of Mecav contains 400 mg of Mesna as the active ingredient in an injectable solution. In addition, excipients are included to facilitate the stability and administration of the product.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Mesna or any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in cases of severe renal insufficiency without adequate medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of allergic reactions to other chemotherapeutic agents. Constant monitoring of renal function during treatment is essential. Mecav should not be used in combination with other medications without proper medical evaluation, as they may enhance its effects or increase the risk of adverse effects.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
