Indications

Lpsyrid is indicated for the treatment of epilepsy in adults and children from 1 year of age. It is used as adjunctive therapy in partial onset seizures and generalized tonic-clonic seizures. It is also used in the treatment of juvenile myoclonic epilepsy. The mechanism of action of Levetiracetam is not fully understood, but it is believed to involve the modulation of neurotransmitter release by binding to a specific protein in the central nervous system. This medication can be administered as long-term treatment and has been shown to help reduce the frequency and severity of epileptic seizures in appropriately diagnosed patients.

Composition

Each tablet contains 500 mg of Levetiracetam as the active ingredient. Excipients include: starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, and other inactive components that facilitate the formulation of the product.

Contraindications

Lpsyrid is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Levetiracetam or any of the excipients in the formula. Its use is not recommended in pregnant women unless the benefits outweigh the potential risks to the fetus. It should also be avoided in patients with a history of depression or suicide attempts.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with kidney disease, as drug elimination may be affected. Furthermore, close monitoring is recommended for patients who experience mood or behavioral changes, as adverse mental health effects may occur. It is also important not to discontinue treatment abruptly, as this may lead to an increase in seizure frequency.

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place away from light. Keep out of reach of children.
