Indications

Losartan Hydrochlorothiazide is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension. This medication works by combining two active ingredients: Losartan, which is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, and Hydrochlorothiazide, which is a thiazide diuretic. The synergistic action of these components effectively reduces blood pressure. Furthermore, it is used in patients with heart failure and in those at risk of cardiovascular events, contributing to renal protection in type 2 diabetic patients.

Composition

Each tablet contains: Losartan 50 mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg. Excipients: Lactose, starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Losartan, Hydrochlorothiazide, or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with a history of angioedema associated with previous ACE inhibitor therapies. It is also contraindicated in cases of severe renal failure and in anuric patients.

Precautions

It is recommended to use with caution in patients with a history of hepatic insufficiency, electrolyte problems, and those undergoing treatment with diuretics. It is essential to monitor blood pressure and electrolyte levels during treatment. Likewise, a dose adjustment should be considered in elderly patients or those with renal dysfunction.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place and away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
