Indications
Losartan/Hydrochlorothiazide is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension. The combination of losartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, and hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic, helps to reduce blood pressure, which decreases the risk of cardiovascular events, such as myocardial infarction and stroke. This medication is used in adult patients and can be indicated as initial treatment or in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy.
Composition
Each tablet contains: 100 mg of losartan potassium and 25 mg of hydrochlorothiazide.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to losartan, hydrochlorothiazide, or any of the excipients. It should not be administered to patients with a history of angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitor treatments. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe renal failure or anuria.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gout, diabetes mellitus, or liver diseases. Regular monitoring of blood pressure and serum electrolytes is recommended, especially in elderly patients and those with kidney problems. In case of adverse effects, a doctor should be consulted immediately.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
