Indications
Losartan is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension in adults. It is also used to reduce the risk of stroke in hypertensive patients with left ventricular hypertrophy. The medication can be administered alone or in combination with other antihypertensives. In addition, it has been indicated for the management of renal insufficiency in patients with type 2 diabetes and proteinuria, as well as in the treatment of diabetic nephropathy.
Composition
Each Losartan 50 mg tablet contains:
- Losartan: 50 mg
- Excipients: Lactose, starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Losartan is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. It should not be administered to patients with a history of angioedema related to previous treatments with ACE inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor blockers. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.
Precautions
Caution is recommended when using Losartan in patients with renal artery stenosis, renal failure, severe hepatic failure, dehydration, or hypovolemia. Adequate monitoring of blood pressure and renal function during treatment is important. Patients should be warned about the possibility of dizziness or vertigo, especially when starting treatment or increasing the dose.

Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature between 15 and 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
