Indications

Losartan is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension in adults and children over 6 years of age. It is also used to reduce the risk of stroke in hypertensive patients with left ventricular hypertrophy. In addition, it is indicated for the treatment of heart failure in patients who have shown intolerance to angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. Losartan works by blocking the effects of angiotensin II, which leads to a decrease in blood pressure.

Composition

Each tablet contains 50 mg of Losartan potassium as the active ingredient, as well as excipients such as starch, microcrystalline cellulose, and magnesium stearate.

Contraindications

Losartan is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to losartan or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation, as well as in patients with bilateral renal artery stenosis or renal artery stenosis in a single kidney.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when using Losartan in patients with a history of angioedema, renal insufficiency, and in those with dehydration or hypovolemia. It is important to monitor kidney function and blood potassium levels during treatment. Patients with liver disease should receive an adjusted dose under medical supervision.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at temperatures not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
